La pandemia ha messo in crisi le visite guidate. Ma la chiave del rilancio sta nel turismo locale. Soprattutto in periferia. Ce ne parla Silvia Scirè.
Il Covid-19 ha dimezzato il turismo in Italia
“Ho un contratto con un tour operator che lavora con il turismo di massa e sto in cassa integrazione. Nel frattempo continuo a portare avanti il discorso del turismo locale. Silvia Scirè è la guida turistica abilitata che anima, assieme alla socia Gabriella, l’associazione Roma Slow Tour. Però la stagione turistica cala nei mesi di gennaio-febbraio. Per questo motivo le mie colleghe che si rivolgono esclusivamente al turismo massivo non lavorano da dicembre 2019. E hanno potuto beneficiare dei ristori grazie alle associazioni di categoria che, per mesi, hanno lottato per far riconoscere il lavoro perso”. Infatti, i lavoratori stagionali del turismo hanno dovuto attendere il Decreto Ristori Quater. Per mille euro. “Attorno a un tour di un paio d’ore in giro per Roma c’è tutto un indotto fatto di guide, accompagnatori, mezzi di trasporto e società che affittano gli auricolari. E il settore è fermo da mesi”.
Banca d’Italia stima che lo scorso settembre l’Italia ha accolto la metà dei turisti stranieri rispetto allo stesso periodo dell’anno precedente: gli oltre 5 milioni di visitatori hanno speso 2.761 milioni di euro, a fronte dei 4.828 milioni spesi dal doppio delle persone nel 2019. Gli arrivi hanno subìto un primo calo nella settimana 23 febbraio-1° marzo e un secondo dall’8 al 15 marzo, per poi stabilizzarsi fino ad aprile. Inoltre, nel primo semestre del 2020 la spesa dei turisti stranieri si è ridotta di quasi 2,5 miliardi di euro. E stiamo parlando solamente del Lazio.
La pandemia ha invertito il flusso: dal centro alla periferia
Le guide turistiche, circa 4mila solamente nel Lazio, hanno potuto riavviare le proprie attività a partire dal 29 maggio, in ottemperanza all’Ordinanza della Regione Lazio di due giorni prima. Infatti, la norma ha stabilito le regole da rispettare durante le visite. Per esempio conservare l’elenco delle presenze per 30 giorni e minimizzare l’uso del materiale informativo cartaceo. “Noi proponiamo itinerari alla scoperta di Roma a passo lento su storia, architettura, urbanistica e anche cinema, il quale ci aiuta a raccontare il cambiamento della città. Ci chiediamo perché del centro si visitano solo alcune parti e non altre che sono ugualmente interessanti. Il Rione Monti e il Ghetto, quando cominciammo a visitarli anni fa, erano ancora di nicchia”.
Con la pandemia il centro storico si è svuotato. Nonostante le difficoltà negli spostamenti, Roma Slow Tour ha ricevuto buona risposta dal pubblico puntando da sempre sul turismo locale. “I primissimi frequentatori dei nostri tour sono stati gli abitanti del quartiere. Ci capita spesso anche ora. E scoprono che dietro delle case che sembrano non avere alcun tipo di storia, invece, si nasconde un mondo. Con il passare degli anni si sono aggiunte persone di fuori Roma che, visitando la città per la seconda o terza volta, cercano un tour fuori dai circuiti del turismo tradizionale. Nel 2020 abbiamo avuto anche scolaresche dal Lazio e non solo”.
Riscoprire i sentieri sotto casa grazie al “new normal”
“Il centro di Roma è una zona inaccessibile. Per tanti motivi: i turisti, il traffico, l’ampiezza della città”. Roma, con una superficie di 1.287,36 km², è il Comune più esteso d’Italia. Una capitale composta da tanti quartieri diversi. Anzi, da ben 7 città, come evidenziano gli economisti di Mapparoma. “La periferia è sempre posta in relazione a una zona che è considerata ‘centrale’. Ma anche la periferia ha un centro”, continua Silvia Scirè. Ci faccia un esempio. “Il Quadraro Vecchio è una borgata che nasce nell’estrema periferia romana. Nel tempo, è diventata il centro dell’espansione che ha portato alla costruzione del Quadraro Nuovo”.
“La pandemia, fra mille difficoltà, ci ha arricchito di uno strumento in più da proporre agli utenti”. Gli “Slow Talk”, veri e propri tour online, raccontano la trasformazione di Roma in modo trasversale ai quartieri. “Le persone hanno voglia di riappropriarsi degli spazi. Anche il centro città sembra restituito alla cittadinanza. Liberato dal turismo massivo. La bellezza di Roma è anche nelle periferie variopinte, a volte contraddittorie ma ricche di testimonianze artistiche e sociologiche. Credo sia difficile eguagliare uno sviluppo urbanistico come quello della Capitale”.
